Licensed since 2000, Treehouse Learning Center is a non-profit organization dedicated to offering children a safe, loving, Christian atmosphere in which to help build self-esteem, good homework skills, friendships and learn responsibility. After-school care is offered throughout the school year and full-day programming is available in the summer months and includes transportation of students from Black River Public Schools and Holland Language Academy to the Treehouse Learning Center. Scheduled activities include snack time, devotions, gross motor skill activities, homework, table games, and free time.

Summer activities include science, baking, field trips, sports, water fun, recreation, arts and crafts, scrapbooking, problem-solving, puppetry, music, journaling, and drama. We have weekly themes in the summer and a very successful literacy program.

THE HISTORY OF TREEHOUSE LEARNING CENTER

Treehouse started as a neighborhood outreach of Maplewood Church. MRC leadership met with the Principal of Maplewood School, Mr. Day, and asked him what we could do for the community. Mr. Day suggested an afterschool program that would help kids with their homework. The idea was born and the congregation jumped on board. This was over 20 years ago and this has been our goal ever since, to offer affordable child care with a devotional and homework component. Priority is given to single-parent families and those struggling financially; right now half of the children come from single-parent households. By providing facilities and helping cover some overhead costs, Treehouse is able to offer care at a substantially lower cost than other childcare programs, only charging $40 per week. After 20 years, we are more committed than ever to serving local families by providing kids with a safe, loving place to go after school.

Providing over 20 years of safe, affordable afterschool care (with school transportation!) for the Holland community. Led by Director, Jackie Ledbetter.
